$10 Gold Liberty HeadIn 1838, the weight and diameter of the eagle were reduced and the obverse and reverse were redesigned. Liberty now faces left and the word LIBERTY is placed in the coronet. A more natural-appearing eagle in used on the reverse. The value, TEN D., is shown for the first time on this denomination.
